You'll live in a section of a residence hall set aside for Sport and Recreation Management majors, and get to take part in experiences like these:

  • Attend frequent networking events with current professionals in the sport and recreation management field.
  • Get to know SRM faculty members through interaction throughout the year.
  • Practice business etiquette while dining with faculty and prestigious sport business industry guests.
  • Network and learn on regional field trips to engage with sport business professionals at the highest levels of sports (Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Kansas City have been recent destinations.)
  • Go behind the scenes on tours of Carver Hawkeye Arena and historic Kinnick Stadium.
  • Volunteer at local sporting events with other SRM students.
  • Form study groups with classmates in the common class.
  • Attend movie nights with classmates in the sport and recreation management program.
  • Engage with guest speakers who come to speak with the SRM LLC.

Common coursework

Research suggests that LLC students who participate in shared courses are more engaged with their academics and satisfied with their college experience.

As part of your participation in the Sport and Recreation Management LLC, students will be enrolled in SRM:1060, Contemporary Issues in Sport. Topics covered in the common course are tailored to the sport industry and the sport work environment. This course will also count toward graduation requirements.

In addition to lecture classes, students participate in weekly discussion groups, forming a sense of community around the participation in this course.
