Favorite Course(s): My favorite and most memorable class was Sports Business Practices. The highlight of the course for me was the free agency negotiation project. Students were place into groups that were responsible for representing either the player or the team in free agency negotiations. It was the first class I experienced that closely mirrored the workplace as there were no right or wrong answers.

Faculty Mentor: Dan Matheson single-handedly has had the biggest impact in my professional development. Dan was an excellent professor and mentor, during my entire time at Iowa, and has continued to be a trusted mentor to this day. His guidance allowed me to excel in the classroom and gain valuable internship experience that ultimately led to a career in sports.

Supplemental Experiential Learning: While at Iowa I took advantage of a number of the field trips that were organized by the SRM program to connect and network with various executives in the sports industry. In addition to the field trips, I interned in the licensing departments of the University and NASCAR. Each of those experiences provided opportunities for me to learn from industry experts, while expanding my network for future career opportunities.

Career Journey: After graduating from Iowa, I went on to work as a Licensing Specialist at Jostens. I spent five years at Jostens in various roles within their licensing team, eventually leading all licensing efforts for the company. I transitioned away from sports briefly, working at Nearpod as a Sr. Manager for Partnerships and Licensing before going back to NASCAR in the beginning of 2021.
