This is a picture of Rachel and Jody

We may have moved away from the state of Iowa, but we will always be Hawkeyes. It’s the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you shout ‘Go Hawks’ at a fellow fan decked out in black and gold at the grocery store on a Saturday. They may be few and far between in the Hoosier state, but we never miss our opportunity.

We both grew up in the state of Iowa – Des Moines and Cedar Rapids respectively – and each knew from a young age that we were passionate about being Hawkeyes. We quickly learned what being a Hawkeye embodied as we embarked on our college education. The ‘never give up’ attitude, the relentless work ethic, the kindness and care towards your neighbor, and the endless opportunities that would be in front of us, all because we were now part of an elite group – University of Iowa alumni (Rachel in 2013 Jody in 2014).

We are proud to be two of the first students to graduate from what is now the University of Iowa Sport and Recreation Management program. As current Advisory Board members and Strategic Planning Committee members, we have the unique opportunity to contribute to its ongoing success – through mentorship with students, and of course, through providing critical funds for scholarships and field experiences. We couldn’t be more grateful for UISRM and all the opportunities it has given us in our short careers. To showcase our appreciation and passion for what the program has provided us, we give back in any way we can. We feel fortunate to be a small part of the program’s success and the future generation of UISRM graduates.

Together, we can continue to champion this program including its incredible lineup of experienced faculty and staff, and its talented and deserving students.

Please join us in supporting UISRM on One Day for Iowa. On Iowa, Go Hawks!
